A painter and professor of applied arts at Iowa State Teachers College, Alice Waugh lived at Ames, Iowa. She studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; the University of Missouri; the New York School of Fine and Applied Art and in Paris, France. Among her teachers were Ralph Helm Johonnot and Adrian Dornbush.
Exhibition venues included the Iowa Art Salon, Iowa Artists Exhibition and Joslyn Memorial Museum in Omaha. Her artwork is in Home Economics Hall at Iowa State College.
