About the artist:
Donald F. Allan was born in Springville, Utah to Henry K. and Sarah Jane Barker Allan. He attended Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah. After moving to New York in 1951, he studied art at the National Academy of Art in New York City. There, he was also a member of the Art Student League, and the Salmagundi Club. Allan furthered his studies at Porte Royale, in Paris. He has won awards from a variety of shows and competitions, one including a Bronze Medal from the National Academy of Art, New York, in 1978. After all, Allan prefers for his work to represent who he is as an artist. It is even noted by a critic that "...A desire to bring beauty and happiness into the world impels Mr. Allan to paint such beautiful paintings...", and paint he did, selling over 10,000 paintings throughout his 60-year career as a fine artist, and brightening the lives of others with his work.
